Me and My Family

  • Me and the hub, we have 2 crazy kids, 2 even crazier dogs, and an adopted cat we call boo! (Cats really don't answer to their names anyway, right?) We love traveling together, music of all genres, the theater, and hanging with friends. We're on this journey called "life" together, and all I can say is "You'd better put your seatbelt on!" We learn together, laugh together, cry together, and, yes, even eat sushi together. We live one wild ride, and albeit crazy, we're doing it together!

FUN WITH FRIENDS!

We went to our friend, Michael's, birthday party last week. We arrived to some awesome Gulf Coast oysters baking over an open fire. Yes, they clued us in on a place that sells Gulf Coast oysters, to which we will be hitting before spring is over. They were delicious, with a little Texas Pete, of course.

And, Oh my gosh, they live in Michael's grandmother's old farmhouse, which looks just like my grandmother's old farmhouse.

There's also a corner hutch that sits in the house that looks just like the one that's been in my grandmother's house forever, which now sits in my sister's house! How weird is that? They've been fixing the old place up. As you can imagine, it takes forever to fix something like that up, and lots of money, so it's a work in progress. But it's a great place to gather. It's surrounded by large oak trees and lots of outbuildings.

It's fun just to sit out on the lawn under the trees and watch the kids play. They also have chickens and a goat. Jodi keeps me in supply of fresh eggs, and in turn I'm happy to give her some fresh venison sausage! she also makes her own milk and goat cheese. She makes everything from scratch. Laci and Caleb went over for the day and they got to go gather the eggs. They thought that was cool. It's one of those sort of places the kids can play outside all day and you don't have to worry about where they are.

They also homeschool three girls. Every morning before school they have to milk the goat and gather the eggs as part of their chores. The kids love it over there!

All of their girls play music, the harp, violin, fiddle, mandolin. So we ended the night with a little jam session, and the kids had a blast dancing the night away!
