The following websites have wonderful facts and info on history, science, animals and all that great stuff for boys and for girls. If you don't already visit them, you'll want to introduce them to your little ones. They can be a fun tool for learning:

I love them all, but my most favorite, and the kids too, is The Magic Treehouse series that come in books and on CD. You can check them out at your local library in book and on CD. We love using the CD's, unabridged by the writer herself, Mary Pope Osborne, when we travel. If you desire silence on some of your road trips, you'll surely want to carry the CD's with you. But BEWARE, you will become as enthralled as your children.
Jack and Annie (the two characters in the book) find a magic treehouse in the woods by their house. They find books lying in the treehouse and meet a master librarian who soon sends them on missions and adventures through time. There's over 60 volumes full of history, science, the arts. We have learned so much history through these books, and they are so much fun. Laci is using these for her readers these days. And we can't wait until the next day to find out what's going to happen next. Read about Volcanos, go back to ancient Rome, dinosaur times. Well, go to their website and see all of the books for yourself. They are true facts gathered by the author and put into a great adventure. After each book, you can go onto the website and play trivia games about the stories. It's great to see how much your children actually comprehended during the read. Some of the books may be a little ahead of your child's reading level, but they make for great read-alouds.
So the next time your little ones are bored, LET THE LEARNING BEGIN!
