And then Sunday evening our great friends Diane and Wayne came over. Wayne and Diane became acquainted with the Brooms through Hurricane Katrina and came to do a little visiting and catching up. As a matter of fact, they lived with them for a whole week through humid MS. weather with no walls, no floors, and a partial roof. They served on the disaster relief team from our church that helped to rebuild Mr. and Mrs. Broom's house in the aftermath of Katrina. Wayne brought his guitar along and we had an evening of music, food, and fun!
And, well, we just couldn't get our minds off of one of those porkchop sandwiches from the Snappy Lunch, so one day we headed to Mayberry! We had a nice afternoon strolling through town in all the little shops, but not before getting our hands dirty!
Granny should have brought her bib with her because she made a big ole mess trying to eat her's. But that's all part of the fun.
But if you're not into porkchop sammies, then the old American hotdog will do!
Then the men head next door to Floyd's barber shop. They had to wait in line, though. People from all over were coming in from all parts to get their hair cut at Floyd's famous barber shop. What an experience!
Can you believe this fellow has been cutting hair for 63 years? I can't imagine doing any one thing for 63 years!
Then the kids were screaming to stop by Pilot Mountain (better known as Mt. Pilot in the Andy Griffith movie). They love it there. The hiking is great!
Laci and Caleb love it when their grandparents come, or we make a trip down to see them. They want to know all about when they were growing up, where they lived, what they did. So here they are, hearing all the wonderful stories of growing up in the south!
I just love it because I've never seen two kids more interested in their grandparents growing up years. It's sweet! And grandad just loves to tell stories.
And Laci and her granny fix their hair!
GIRL FUN!!!
The week sure flew by too fast. They were soon headed for home Thursday, so we took them to the airport and said farewell until next time!!!! Thanks for the Gulf shrimp! It's the best of the south!!!
