Me and My Family

  • Me and the hub, we have 2 crazy kids, 2 even crazier dogs, and an adopted cat we call boo! (Cats really don't answer to their names anyway, right?) We love traveling together, music of all genres, the theater, and hanging with friends. We're on this journey called "life" together, and all I can say is "You'd better put your seatbelt on!" We learn together, laugh together, cry together, and, yes, even eat sushi together. We live one wild ride, and albeit crazy, we're doing it together!

ROAD TRIP!

Well, last week we made our way to Cherokee, NC with a group of friends for a little camping and whitewater rafting. We stayed at Jellystone Park with Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo too. Our last little get-away before the school year started.

How's this view first thing in the morning? (Hairdos and PJs included)

A river runs through it - through our campground, that is ~

Our camping ranged from RV to tent to rustic cabin. There was 17 of us in all, and we had a really good time.

Whitewater rafting was first on the agenda. Once we got the kiddos suited up in wet shirts, we were ready to go.

Here's our troops waiting to go whitewater rafting. Our guides gave us the lowdown on navigating the #2 rapids (perfect for our kids).

There was light rain on our three-hour journey down river, so sorry, no pics. Just take my word for it, it was fun, especially when Mr. JJ flipped out of his raft. Yes, not any of the children, they did especially well, just our adult JJ.

We had lots of good eats, too, for the weekend. Saturday night we brought the low country to the high country with a little Low Country Boil. Better known as a SHRIMP BOIL for all you Mississipians out there!

In you go, my little lovelies!

I especially like it when the men cook!

And camping wouldn't be complete without a little winnie roast ~

We didn't see any bears this trip, but how about this big boy on the side of the road?

Abour 5 years ago elk were introduced into the wild of the Smoky Mountains. This Big Daddy is wearing a collar so he is one of the original group. I've been told that all the original elk wear collars but the ones that are reproductions of these guys do not wear a collar and that's how they can tell how successful the reproduction has been.

It's obvious he has not a care in the world! He could've cared less how many people were stopping to gauk at him.

There was plenty going on in the campground to keep the kids occupied, but the most fun had to be the 9:00 p.m. glow stick hayride through the park ~

Now, was that a wild ride or what?

Time to go for now, until our next adventure!
