"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance ..."
Ecclesiastes 3:1,4
For over 10 years now, three sisters in our community have dedicated their summers to teaching dance as a means of worship for ages 3 all the way through adult. This is Laci's second year to dance, and she loves it. She chose tap and ballet this year. All of their dance is through praise and worship music; tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and I'm sure I've left something out. Their teachers pray with them before class starts, and they share prayer requests with one another, they pray before the big finale at the end of the season "The Night of Worship," praying they will touch someone's heart for Jesus. No one is discriminated against either. There was a dancer in a wheelchair, my friend's son who is borderline autistic, and others. The lady in the wheelchair couldn't move her lower body, but she could move her upper body, and Jonathan followed along really well for someone that may not be quite as quick as you and I. Isn't that awesome? Boys, girls, children, adults, and those with special needs, these ladies are willing to work with them all.
Each summer's end the doors open up to the civic center downtown for "The Night of Worship." Admission is free to everyone, and the house is always packed. Non-perishable items are taken at the door for a local ministry here in town. It's the best show of the year. The songs, the praise band, the costumes, lights, and of course the praise ... you're truly blessed when you leave this place.
Lots of children from our church dance in this program, and of course we meet lots of new friends along the way. My mom was able to be here this year, but for those of you who weren't, here's a little preview ...
Now it's your turn, take your candles and go light the world this weekend.
I hope you have a fabulous one!
