I've read aloud daily to Laci and Caleb since birth. Among our favorites are any and all of the Dr. Suess books. We still have some of Greg's old Dr. Suess books from when he was a child. One that I've introduced to them this year is the classic "Green Eggs and Ham." They love this repetitive story, which teaches the age old lesson of "Don't say you don't like it until you've tried it." Boy, do those words echo amongst these walls. But what a wonderful lesson!
So we like to mix a little of our language arts with a little science. After reading this classic, what else could we think up to do but dye our eggs green. Over the course of this year our experimenting has reached far beyond just the color green. Did you know that food dye comes in many different colors now? We like to experiment with our eggs now on a multitude of colors, to the point they take on the tie-dyed look!
Laci has discovered that when you mix two different colors, they become a whole different color all its own. Nothing like a little bit of experimenting!
