Me and My Family

  • Me and the hub, we have 2 crazy kids, 2 even crazier dogs, and an adopted cat we call boo! (Cats really don't answer to their names anyway, right?) We love traveling together, music of all genres, the theater, and hanging with friends. We're on this journey called "life" together, and all I can say is "You'd better put your seatbelt on!" We learn together, laugh together, cry together, and, yes, even eat sushi together. We live one wild ride, and albeit crazy, we're doing it together!

THE ROBBINS NEST

This has to be Greg's most favorite place on earth. It was the home of his Granny and Grandaddy Robbins. They have passed on and his mom and dad own the place now. It sat for many years empty and falling apart. They decided to fix it up to serve as a gathering place for the family. It was the gathering place for Greg and his brother and sisters and all of their cousins in their growing up years. Summers, Christmas, they all met there and shared many memories. Now there's a second generation of cousins sharing their own memories of the old place. We haven't been there since Laci was six months old, so it was time to call for a gathering this year, and boy did we ever have a gathering. 50 people showed up. Greg's aunt lives in the home and keeps it up. She's not used to all these people bombarding her, but she loves it. And we loved for Laci and Caleb to meet cousins they've yet to meet, mostly their ages.

Greg's dad has done a tremendous amount of work up there. As a matter of fact, it's a child's paradise. Complete with a swinging bridge over the creek ~

Miles and miles of walking trails through the woods ~

Swings ~

Treehouses ~

Lots of cousins ~

Lots of food and singing Christmas Carols and playing ~

And some of my favorites ~

And a trip up there would not be complete without visiting the Round Table Restaurant. The food goes round and round so you'd better grab what you want or it will be gone. Granny couldn't wait so she dives right in, dessert first. (Gee, Granny, you could at least wait until the table swings your way!!) And by the way, everything on these tables are home cooked and baked.

And, well, when 50 people show up for Christmas dinner, one bathroom just will not do!

What fun we had! When discussing all of our fun on the trip back home, Caleb replies, his favorite part of all of our trip was going to Uncle Reggie's and Aunt Kathie's house and playing with his big cousin, Nathan. And walking through the woods at the Robbins Nest with his Aunt Whoo Pat. If you get separated from Aunt Pat in the woods, you just yell "Whoooo Pat" and she'll come looking for ya.
